1971:

Start of our cooperation with the Japanese Insurer Mitsui Life.

  • The new stock market index  Nasdaq Composite  is launched.
  • Walt Disney World opens its doors in Orlando, Florida. Ticket entrance is at $3.50 for adults.
  • Qatar becomes independent from the United Kingdom.

1972:

Opening of the Generali European Marketing Office (GEMO).

  • Apollo 17 sends us back The Blue Marble, a photograph of the Earth taken at 45,000 km distance. It is one of the most iconic & widely distributed images in human history.
  • Pong is released and becomes the first commercially successful arcade video game machine.

1984:

With the increasing importance of Brussels, GEMO takes the new name of Generali Aetna Marketing Office (GAEMO) and moves to the Belgian capital city.

  • TED conference is founded by architect and graphic designer Richard Saul Wurman, responding to a convergence in the fields of Technology, Entertainment, and Design.
  • The African republic Upper Volta changes its name to Burkina Faso.
  • Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi is assassinated in New Delhi.
  • The United Kingdom and the People's Republic of China sign the agreement to return Hong Kong to China in 1997.
